|
First in the ROADMAP series, this is an easy-to-use guide that provides
a 5 step method for the implementation of the overall affirmative action
program once the
affirmative action plan
has been written. The 5 steps, covered in detail, are: The Basics,
Understanding the Regulations, Evaluating the Analyses, Implementing the
Analyses, and Developing the Program. The steps incorporate checklists
and key observation points for self-evaluation, a comprehensive
directory of resources for use in outreach and recruitment, appendices
with expanded information on required analyses and reference sources.
.
| What Others Say:
Filled with
practical tips, checklists, definitions, sample documents and
resources--everything any organization would need to have a
successful affirmative action program.
I like the roadmap approach with its clear and precise definitions
and tells the "whys" as well as the "how to's".
Barbara Mitchell,
past President, Employment Management Association,
and principal of
The Millennium Group International, LLC
An easy-to-read
and excellent guide for the HR Professional with minimal knowledge
of affirmative action programs. It is an extremely valuable resource
to someone new to affirmative action compliance, especially the
outreach resources and terminology provided. It validated for me
that we are doing the right things.
Janet Parker, SPHR,
Secretary SHRM 2004 Board of Directors
and Senior Vice
President, Corporate Employee Relations, AmSouth Bank

The second in the ROADMAP series, this book
helps the HR Professional design a briefing of Affirmative Action
Program results to present to management staff. It provides an overview
of Affirmative Action compliance for managers, and an explanation of
Affirmative Action Plan analyses including determining utilization by
comparing workforce composition to availability, placement rate goals,
accomplishment of past year goals, impact ratio analysis, and evaluation
of organizational units. The importance of conducting a pay equity
analysis is also emphasized. The book includes a CD ROM with a
presentation for management. |
| What Others Say:
A concise,
easy-to-read primer on presenting Affirmative Action results. The
information in this guidebook is so straightforward and pragmatic
that I can easily communicate our program to all levels of
management. I'm always looking for an "at-your-fingertips" guide,
and this one fulfills those needs.
Lorraine Mixon-Page, SPHR
past Chair, SHRM Workplace Diversity Committee
and Manager of Human Resources, Missouri Consolidated Health
Care Plan
It makes the process of communicating to managers about
Affirmative Action easy. It breaks down the critical components
of the process so that any line manager will understand
what is being done and why, without being unnecessarily
technical. Managers often have preconceived and erroneous
assumptions/feelings when they hear “Affirmative Action”. This
book allows HR to present managements’ responsibilities and
commitments without pointing fingers and clearly explains the
whys and wherefores.
