EEO-1 Reporting
The Employer Information Report EEO-1, otherwise known as the EEO-1 Report, is required to be filed with the US Equal Employment Opportunity Commission's EEO-1 Joint Reporting Committee. Notification letters are mailed to employers beginning in July of each year.
The preferred method for completing the EEO-1 reports is the web-based filing system which requires a login into your company's database with a Login ID and Password. All companies should receive their EEO-1 filing materials by mail no later than mid-August of each year.
Final Rule for VETS-4212 Report
On October 27, 2014, The Veterans’ Employment and Training Service (VETS) issued the Final Rule to revise the regulations implementing the reporting requirements under VEVRAA. Generally, VEVRAA requires Federal contractors and subcontractors to annually report the total number of their employees who belong to the categories of veterans protected under VEVRAA, and the total number of those protected veterans who were hired during the period covered by the report.
This Final Rule rescinds the regulations that prescribe the reporting requirements applicable to Government contracts and subcontracts entered into before December 1, 2003, because those regulations are now obsolete. In addition, this Final Rule revised the regulations that prescribe the reporting requirements applicable to Government contracts and subcontracts of $100,000 or more entered into on or modified after December 1, 2003, by changing the manner in which Federal contractors report on their employment of protected veterans. The Final Rule renames the annual report required under those regulations to the Federal Contractor Veterans’ Employment Report VETS-4212.
Further, the Final Rule revises regulations that address the definitions of terms used in the regulations, the text of the reporting requirements clause included in Government contracts and subcontracts, and the methods of filing the annual report on veterans’ employment.
Contractors and subcontractors must comply with the reporting requirements in this Final Rule beginning with the annual report filed in 2015.

VETS-4212 Replaces the VETS-100A Report
This Final Rule has simplified the way employers report on the number of employees and new hires who are veterans covered by VEVRAA. The VETS-4212 report replaces the VETS-100A report in 2015 and cuts the required reporting elements by almost half. The contractor will not have to enter data on multiple veteran categories individually, they will report on summary data. In the past, employers had to enter eight columns of data for 10 rows of EEO categories, plus two boxes at the bottom of the form. The new form will require employers to enter only four columns of data plus two boxes at the bottom that ask for the maximum and minimum number of employees at the specific location.
The term “covered” veteran has been replaced by the term “protected” veteran which includes disabled veterans, recently separated veterans, active duty wartime or campaign badge veterans, and Armed Forces service medal veterans.
